Since the last adventure, Elizabeth has gotten engaged to Abner, and is planning a big wedding. Jehu is tending sheep, and practicing with his sling, while Ollie stands next to the cliff looking towards the Mediterranean Sea. In the background, his three brothers, Isa, Esau, and Jeremy, are roughhousing. Jehu, a handsome boy of fifteen, is practicing with his slingshot. Jehu winds up and lets one fly that knocks a pomegranate right out of the tree. JEHU Not bad, huh, Ollie? OLLIE Well, from what I hear, even young king David would have been no match for you. JEHU Id really like to be something else besides just a shepherd boy. OLLIE Maybe you will be someday. Think about it. Before you could even walk, that staff just sort of helped you push yourself along, but now your feet are fast as the wind. JEHU Yeah, only the wind gets to go places. All I do is get to watch out flocks. JEHUS SONG: ALL I WANT TO BE Id sort of like to be a big giraffe And look out over every tree. Let the little monkeys swing around my neck, Thats all Id wanna be. Id like to race a chariot, Flying through the turns so low. I'd like to take a ship Across the sea To the Coliseum in Rome. Oh, what if I could be an elephant? Youd probably step on my toe. But think about the showers I could give Squirting water out of my nose. All I wanna be All I wanna be Is a little bigger than I am. Oh, Im telling you All I wanna do Is grow up to be a big, big man. All I wanna be All I wanna be Is a little bigger than I am. Oh, Im telling you All I wanna do Is grow up to be a big, big man. As Jehu sings this song, the actions change behind him as the different lines are animated according to his wishes. OLLIE Well, youd better be glad youre a shepherd boy now because I think theres a mountain lion after the sheep! Hop on, Ill give you a ride down. From the hillside, they can see a mountain lion hungrily licking his chops in anticipation of lamb chops. Just as a young lamb wanders away from the fold, over to the rock, under where the lion is perched, the lion springs down almost on top of the lamb! Jehu winds up his sling and lets his stone smack the lion right in the head as he is about to catch the lamb. The lion sees stars. The little lamb comes quivering over to Jehu. JEHU There, there, you go back to your mom and remember, no more wandering off. Jehu turns to Ollie JEHU Well it looks like these sheep are almost ready for shearing. Maybe Dad will let me take the wool into market this year. OLLIE Yeah, and maybe I can help! JEHU Well, by the looks of things, I think well have to get your brothers to help, too. Its getting late. Youd better go tell them to head back to the farm. CUT TO: EXT. RIVERSIDE- AFTERNOON Ollie approaches his three brothers. They are drinking from the river. OLLIE Jehu wants us all to head back to the farm. ISA I like it here. JEREMY Yeah, Ollie, we like it here. Its nice and cool and (takes a drink of water) this water is great. ESAU Yea, Ollie, go away. Youre bothering us. As Esau stoops down to take a drink of water, Ollie runs into him and sends him into the water. He gets soaking wet. As Esau tries to get up, Ollie takes a drink and squirts it at him. OLLIE Jehu says its time to go back to the farm. Besides, Elizabeth said she was bringing home some carrots back today from Rebeccas. Last one home doesnt get any! All the donkeys spring into action. ESAU (In the background) Hey, thats not fair! Wait for me! He gets out of the water and shakes off. INT. FARMHOUSE- DAY MOM Jehu, your Dad and I have decided that you could take the wool over to Caesarea with Elizabeth. ELIZABETH Mom, youre going to let me go? FARMER Youre almost thirteen, young lady. Its time to seriously get your dowry together. Brother Melchisideck is asking a high price for your marriage to his son. JEHU Elizabeth is going to marry Abner? Hes a son of a jackal! FARMER Thats no way to speak of your future brother-in-law! ELIZABETH I like Abner. JEHU Youd like anybody. FARMER Stop your quarreling. The Romans are paying top dollar for wool. This shipment should guarantee you a good dowry. Im not going to have a daughter of mine hanging around the house till shes an old maid. Now remember, go straight there. Dont stop. Abner has his own house, great pasture land, and a herd of over two hundred sheep. He will make you a good husband. And you, son, its not too long until you should think of marriage. JEHU Dad, Im only ten. Besides, I want to see the world, explore the great pyramids, climb the Himalayas, sail across the seas, dig for treasure in Solomons mines MOM Youve got your head up in the clouds, young man. SONG: HEAD UP IN THE CLOUDS Youve got your head up in the clouds And it wont come down. Youre a thousand miles away From the solid ground. Youve got your head up in the clouds And it wont come down. Youre a thousand miles away From the solid ground. Its great to be a dreamer, Dont drift too far away. Remember how youre loved, son. Itll always be that way. Youve got your head up in the clouds And it wont come down. Youre a thousand miles away From the solid ground. Youve got your head up in the clouds And it wont come down. Youre a thousand miles away From the solid ground. Keep on pushing forward, There are mountains you must climb, The road aheads a rough one, But still youve got to try! Youve got your head up in the clouds And it wont come down. Youre a thousand miles away From the solid ground. Youve got your head up in the clouds And it wont come down. Youre a thousand miles away From the solid ground. Youre never gonna rest Till your dreams come true. Dont settle for second best, It just wont do. Mom carries him into bed, tucks him in, and gives him a kiss. He falls fast asleep. MOM Dont worry, son. Youll get your adventuring in someday. EXT. ROADWAY- DAY The four donkeys are waddling up the road with full bundles of wool on their backs. Jehu is practicing with his sling and knocking pomegranates off of trees. Elizabeth stops to pick some roadside flowers. ELIZABETH Theres a watering hole up ahead, Jehu. What do you say we go over and take a rest? Im sure the donkeys could use a drink. JEHU Dad said not to stop anywhere, but to go all the way into town before nightfall. ELIZABETH A half hour isnt going to make any difference. Besides, Dad didnt realize how hot it was going to be today. A sign appears in the road, WATERING HOLE, and points off to the side. JEHU Ok, I suppose a half hour rest wont make that big of a difference. Ollie, lets go ahead and take the turnoff and well get some water. OLLIE This wool sure is heavy. ISA My feet are tired! ESAU Im thirsty. JEREMY: Lets go! CUT TO: EXT. HILLTOP- DAY Five bandits are sitting beside a pile of stolen swords, blankets, jewels, and assorted treasure. ALABA Nabad, if were going to get this stolen treasure back to Samaria, were going to need some new pack animals. Our nags are in sad shape. MEDDI (Young boy) Its bad, Nabad. Even Sheba wont get up. Weve pushed them too hard. NABAD (Tough, gruff voice.) I decide what we need! Is the leader! (He pulls out his hooked dagger and looks at them.) Anyone want to challenge that? He throws it at Shem, who is dozing by a shade tree. Shem wakes up to find a dagger on top of his head. The other bandits all break up laughing. SHEM (Bewildered) Whats going on? NABAD We need some new pack animals. Go scout for some. CUT TO: HILLSIDE- DAY Shem goes to the top of the hill ad climbs up in a large tree where he falls asleep. A fly starts buzzing him, making a special effort to land on his nose. Shem first shakes his nose back and forth, swats the fly and falls out of the tree. He bounces in the air, catching his headdress in the branches. He looks in the distance and sees Jehu, Elizabeth, Ollie and his brothers playing by the water hole. He struggles to get loose, and when he does, he dashes down the mountain, falling several times. EXT. CAMP- DAY Shem runs in, out of breath. SHEM Nabad, four fine donkeys over at the watering hole. NABAD How many people with them? SHEM Just two small children. ALABA Then they are ours for the taking. Come, Meddi, we will make short work of them. (he pulls out the dagger.) SHEM There is no purpose in killing the children. We are thieves, not murderers. Everyone looks to Nabad. NABAD He is right. It is one thing to steal a mans property, quite another to steal the lives of his children. Kabar, bring along the netting. We shall tie them up. By the time they are found, well be safely back in Samaria EXT: WATERING HOLE- DAY Ollie, with the pack off his back, is eating some grass surrounding the hole. ELIZABETH Jehu, weve been here quite awhile. Perhaps we should get going. JEHU Yes, maybe we should. Ollie, where has Jeremy wandered off to? (Jehu throws a rock into a tree. OLLIE He went up into the hill over there looking for roots. ELIZABETH I dont believe they even grow up here. Ill go get him. Maybe you should pack the donkeys up, Jehu JEHU Okay. Come on, Ollie. Time to go back to work As they are talking, they are being slowly surrounded by the unseen group of bandits. EXT: HILLSIDE- DAY Jeremy bays in shock as a rope is thrown upon him by young Meddi. He tries to run down the hill, but Meddi, realizing what he is trying to do, wraps the rope around a tree and Jeremy comes to an abrupt stop. Nabad Thats one. Quick Hide! The young girl is coming after him! The bandits all hide as Elizabeth comes up the path singing, Jeremy, Jeremy Come out come out wherever you are. Elizabeth Stops when she sees Jeremy. Elizabeth How did you get all tangled up? She senses the danger and turns to run but her path way is blocked by Shem. He gins at her. Shem Going somewhere? See how you like this bag over your head. He laughs wildly and throws a burlap over her head. Her muffle cries can barely he heard. Elizabeth Jehu help me! Ollie help bandit! Shem Be quiet! Its too late now. EXT. Water Hole- Day Jehu ties Ollies Pack on Jehu Thats not too tight is it Ollie? Ollie No. Shouldnt Elizabeth be back by now? Jehu Yes. Perhaps she fell. I better go look for her. Keep your eyes on things for me. Heres a carrot. Ollie For me? (He chews it gratefully) As Jehu leaves the small canyon where the water hole is. He hears rocks sliding. Jehu looks around and spots Alaba sneaking around. He quietly picks up a rock puts it in his sling and lets it fly. It catches Alaba right in the head and knocks him out. Jehu then spots Shem, but right as he is winding up his sling a net is being lowered over him b Nadad Nadad Got you Jehu Let me go. Let me go. Nadad Not a chance little one. Im afraid we need your donkeys. Our horses have gone with weary carrying our spoils. Jehu Your spoils? Youre nothing but common thief. There is nothing noble about you at all. You are all common robbers and now you want to steal my donkeys. My father will have your hides. Shem Such loud squeaking from such a little flea. You better pray, little one, that your father will be able to find you and your sister. How could such a Flea How could such a little flea Threaten such the likes of me, When youre ties up in a net Well see ten how loud you yap. You better pray that youll be found Before the jackals gather round, If you wind up on their plate Itll be too late. Two little fleas Wont get the best of me Two little fleas Will soon be history. Better not get in our way Or we will throw you both away We will do just as we please You are both just little fleas You better pray that youll be found Before the jackals gather round, If you wind up on their plate Itll be too late. Two little fleas Are beginning so to itch Two little fleas So small you wont be missed During the song, Elizabeth is dragged in the net with Jehu, and they are both hoisted up the branch of a tree. DISSOLVE: EXT. WATERING HOLE DUSK Elizabeth and Jehu are both hung in the net just a few feet off the ground Elizabeth It looks like we should have listened to Father after all. Its all my fault. Jehu Its just as much my fault. Father put me in charge and I didnt follow his instructions. Now our donkeys are gone and all the wool from the harvest and were hung up like bats. DUET: JEHU AND ELIZABETH. I Feel So Sad I feel so sad, My heart just feels like crying I feel so sad, Trapped with no way out. It just cant end this way, Not as long as I have faith, It just cant end this way, I must still try and be brave. Theres always hope, While the sun is shining, Theres always hope, As long as we have faith. It just cant end this way, Not as long as we have faith, It just cant end this way We must pray and try and be brave. I feel so sad. My heart feels just feels like crying. I feel so sad Trapped with no way out It just cant end this way Not as long as I have faith. It just cant end this way. I must still try and be brave. Oh is there anybody there Who will help us? Oh is there anybody there Who cares? It just cant end this Way Not as long as we have faith. We must pray and try and be brave. It cant end this way. EXT. TRAIL EVENING The donkeys are loaded and struggle under the heavy weight. Meddi kicks Ollie. Meddi Get moving cant you walk any faster? Ollie No. You put too much weight on me. Meddi Who said that? Ollie I did of course. Meddi A talking donkey? How come you can talk? You got some kind of magic? Donkeys arent suppose to talk. Ollie God gave me a special gift and Ill tell you something. What you are doing is wrong. THOU SHALL NOT STEAL. Meddi I didnt steal. Im just helping them out. They took me in when I was an orphan. Can your brothers talk too? Ollie Just to me. Im the only one humans can understand. Whats the Deal? So whats the deal? Why you gotta steal Cant justify, when you live a lie. Theres a right or wrong Youre either good or bad When you get caught Youre gonna be real sad. Look up, look down Dont be a fool look around Better Look up, look down Cause when you get caught Youre gonna go down. Theyll lock up Beat your bottom hard So youd better not take what isnt yours Its not with doing prison time Youll surely pay for your Life of crime Look up. Look down Dont be a fool. Look around Look up. Look down When you get caught Youre gonna go down Nabad Whos making all that commotion? Cant you get this little fellow moving any faster, Meddi? Meddi Were going as fast as we can. The donkeys are all tied together heading gown a steep path loaded up with the bandits goods. The moon is out and it is full. Nabad Alaba, pass me some of the Judean wine. My throat is parched. Alaba What are we going to do with all these donkeys after we get back to Samaria? Theres hardly room at our hideout for all of us Shem How about some donkey steaks? (He laughs) Music starts.. Alaba (sings) I think Ill roast a donkey And put it on my plate. Shem (sings) With some leaks and garlic Itll be wonderful to taste. Nabad (sings) We could invite the neighbors For a real tasty dish Alaba (sings) And we could pick their pockets And roll them in a ditch. Shem (sings) Boy Im getting hungry. Do you hear my stomach growl? Nabad (sings) Its just because your appetite is bigger Than a cow. HA HA HA..The music continues as they go down the hill. While it continues, Ollie imagines himself tied over a barbecue pit and turned over the hot coals. He shivers in fear as Meddi catches him almost walking off the path. Meddi Dont worry Ollie. Im not going to let them eat you. Ollie Sure Im not going to wait around to find out. EXT. FARM DAY Mean while Abner grows impatient awaiting Elizabeths arrival. And tells his dad of his concern. Father Abner? Abner!? Elizabeth was suppose to have gotten here last night. Have you heard anything from her? Abner No father I have not. Perhaps we better get a group out and go look for her. Father Yes. That is a good idea. I have heard something about a group of some thieving Samarians that have been about lately and I hope that they havent gotten a hold of them. Ill get some of the neighbors. Why dont you get our horses ready? EXT. MOUNTAINSIDE EVENING Abner and the six other men are riding looking around. The moon is shining brightly. Abner Father the horses are getting weary. Perhaps we should go to the watering hole and get them some water. Father Very well. Wont help us press on any farther under these circumstances. Fifteen minutes should not make a difference EXT.COUNTRYSIDE - DAY Elizabeth and Jehu hang suspended up in the net. A group of jackals about 20 and all come up the camp sight and sniff around. They look up at the net and see Jehu and Elizabeth. Their mouths start salivating. And they jump in the air to catch the net into their teeth and get it down and have themselves a feast. Elizabeth Jehu do something. They are trying to tear us down. Jehu Elizabeth (he kicks one of the jackals that gets very close to the net) it is to no avail. Gods not going to let us down Elizabeth. The scene dissolves with the sun setting and the jackals still trying to get them. EXT. CAMPSIGHT - DAY After the robbers fall asleep Ollie opens his eyes. He notices that he is tied up to the post. He chews his way through and gingerly steps over the body of the bandits. He clears the fenced area and charges away at full speed. He looks up in the sky as if for guidance, and a shooting star flashes, and he goes in the direction of the star. We hear in the distance sounds of jackals piercing in the darkness. EXT. CAMPSIDE NIGHT The jackals are finding among themselves and do not notice Ollie on his belly sneaking up on them. By the time they do notice, it is too late. Using his rear hooves as weapons, he starts kicking them. There are jackals lying everywhere. JEHU Ollie watch out behind you! Ollie turns and kicks the jackal in midair. Two jackals jump up and grab Ollies ears. They wont let go and three more come up on him. The situation looks hopeless. Ollie drags the two and shakes his head back and forth right at the tree trunk. The rode holding Jehu and Elizabeth gives way and they are sent sprawling tight on the ground. The jackals rush at the net and begin tearing to get at Jehu and Elizabeth. Ollie is valiantly fighting them off. In the distance, you can hear mens voices coming up the hill towards the watering hole. JEHU AND ELIZABETH Help! Over here! Help! Jaman and Abner rush at the jackals and begin beating them off with their staffs. They free up Elizabeth and Jehu and rush over to help Ollie. Six jackals are clawing at him and tearing him almost to pieces. He has fallen to the ground and is mortally wounded. ELIZABETH Its all right, Ollie. Well get you all fixed up. I promise you we will. ABNER (PUTS HIS ARM AROUND ELIZABETH) Well make a stretcher for the little fellow and take him back to my farm. Lets get some mudpacks from the watering hole. JAMAN That little fellow really saved your hides JEHU We owe him our lives. Ive never seen anyone so brave. Hes gotta pull through; hes just gotta. ALL SING Hes gonna pull through Hes gonna be okay Hes gonna pull through Ive never seen anyone so brave. ELIZABETH SINGS: Ollie is my hero He really saved my life Fighting off those jackals God wont let him die. ALL SING: Hes gonna pull through Hes gonna be okay Hes gonna pull through Ive never seen anyone so brave. ELIZABETH SINGS: Hes so torn and bleeding And look, hes fast asleep Lay him on some soft straw Till hes back up on his feet ALL SING: Hes gonna pull through Hes gonna be okay Hes gonna pull through Ive never seen anyone so brave. Hes gonna pull through Hes gonna be okay Hes gonna pull through Ive never seen anyone so brave They carry Ollie on the stretcher down the hill. He is totally unconscious, and as they bounce down the hill, his head bounces from side to side. Several weeks pass. Ollie is back in his stall resting on a pile of hay. He is sleeping soundly when Jehu comes bursting in. He is carrying a pile of carrots. JEHU Ollie, wake up! This is Elizabeths wedding day! OLLIE Its no use, I need a miracle. How can I get to Elizabeths wedding when I cant even walk? Ollie struggles up on his front feet. He tries to drag himself along. MUSIC STARTS- OLLIES SONG I NEED A MIRACLE I need a miracle I feel so weak. I need a miracle Lord, I believe That you are listening From up on high I need a miracle Im too young to die. I watched my life just pass Before my eyes Dont let it end this way Keep me alive Youve always heard my prayers Youll never change I need a miracle Its in Your hands. Lord you are listening From up above I need a miracle Im too young to die. Ollie is sitting on his haunches as a soft glow begins to emanate in the room. Slowly, the room begins to illuminate with an increasingly brighter light. An angel about eight feet tall with a golden headband and huge muscles steps out of the light. MACHIA I am the angel Machia. I bring good news from the most high. Not a sparrow falls to the ground that your Heavenly Father does not know and care about. The angel stretches forth his hand. A shaft of white light begins to enfold Ollie. MACHIA Rise and be healed. Ollie looks as his ghastly scars disappear, and he gets to his feet, moves his legs around and runs out into the field. EXT. GRASS KNOLL- DAY A flower arch is sitting on top of a grassy knoll. The animals have all gathered around to watch the marriage of Abner and Elizabeth. There is great excitement in the air. A group of musicians comes up the hill carrying tambourines, harps and various rhythm instruments. The bridal party trails them and the crowd separates for some of the traditional Israeli dancing. WEDDING SONG It is a good day To take a wife It is a good day To start our life Happiness together Starts when we join hands I promise you my love, my dear Can I have this dance? It is a good day To take a wife It is a good day To start our lives Happiness together forever, ever more Well dance until we cannot stop And then well dance some more It is a good day To take a wife It is a good day To start our lives Happiness together Starts when we join hands I promise you my love, my dear Can I have this dance? OLLIE I wonder what happened to my brothers. I sure do miss them DISSOLVE: INT. SLAVE MARET- NIGHT Jeremy, Isa, and Esau are tied to a post in a very seedy Middle East seaport town. Their coats are matted and they look very thin. The young robber, Meddi, is watching over them. Occasionally, he throws a piece of food at them. They struggle against the ropes to pick it up. In the background, there is boisterous carousing and wild belly dancing. Nabad walks up with an overweight barbarian. The barbarian has a shaved head and is wearing a long, dangling earring. He has a hooked dagger in the front of his belt. NABAD Meddi, get those donkeys ready. I have made a deal with this Roman wine merchant. WINE MERCHANT These donkeys look very underfed, Nabad. Could it be you do not feed them as well as you feed yourself? NABAD Nonsense, Consul Gallius. Theyve had plenty to eat. All these donkeys are thin (he looks shiftily out of the corner of his eye.) Weve been feeding them properly. CONSUL GALLIUS Very well. (he reaches in his coin purse and pulls out a handful of coins.) Here is your price. Have your boy bring them to my stable. It will be several weeks before the ship sails back to Italy. (He goes over to touch the donkey.) Ill see about fattening them up. Theyll need to be healthy to work in my vineyard. Ha ha ha. SONG Come along, you three Youll have lots to eat Im a generous man Youll see. And a donkey who is much too thin Will never work for me. Therell be carrots, leeks and broccoli (As they move along, they go through a marketplace. Gallius grabs vegetables and feeds them; throwing his money at the vendors and filling his own mouth as well.) Pomegranates, grapes, and wheat For as long as you three work for me Youll have lots of food to eat. Yodel-lay-hee-hooo Yodel-lay-hee-hooo Come along, Come along! Yodel-lay-hee-hooo Yodel-lay-hee-hooo Come along, Come along! Yodel-lay-hee-hooo Yodel-lay-hee-hooo Come along, Come along! Yodel-lay-hee-hooo Yodel-lay-hee-hooo Come along, Come along! Yodel-lay-hee-hooo Yodel-lay-hee-hooo Come along, Come along! They weave their way through the marketplace and as the song ends, he places them in a fenced outdoor area. JEREMY Well, at least were going to have enough food to eat. ISA I hate to say it, but I miss Ollie. ESAU I do too, I really miss Jehu. JEREMY Yeah, and Elizabeth ISA I wonder if well ever see them again. SONG MAYBE SOMETIME Maybe sometime Well be lucky Maybe sometime Well see our friends Maybe somehow God will help us Maybe someday Well meet again Somehow Someday Someday Sometime Maybe next week I hope this lifetime. Maybe sometime Well be lucky Maybe sometime Well see our friends Maybe somehow God will help us Maybe someday Well meet again Somehow Someday Someday Sometime Maybe next week I hope this lifetime. Maybe sometime Well be lucky Maybe sometime Well see our friends Maybe somehow God will help us Maybe someday Well meet again Somehow Someday Someday Sometime As they finish the last line, a group of sparrows who have been fling around during the song all land on the fencepost and finish a verse while whistling. Rupert the raven flies overhead and stops to chat with them. He is holding a piece of straw like a cigar and looks remarkable like Groucho Marx. RUPERT Very good, lads. But Im afraid your singing wont get you out of your trip to Italy. I dont think youll ever see your families. ISA How do you know? RUPERT They dont call me Rupert the Renown for nothing. JEREMY (Slightly in awe) Rupert the Renown. But youre just a raven RUPERT Not just a raven. From my vantage point, theres not much I miss. I sure havent heard of any rescue parties coming for you. Why, they dont even know where you are. ESAU (Steps up boldly) Now just hold on a moment. Things arent hopeless. Weve got a family that loves and misses us, and we got each other. How can you just fly over here and tell us things are hopeless? Maybe you can see a lot of things flying around like you do. But you sure dont know whats gonna happen tomorrow, do you? Rupert ruffles his feathers and nearly falls off the fencepost. RUPERTS SONG IVE BEEN AROUND Ive been around these great blue skies As best as I can best surmise. You all havent got a chance at being saved. Call it fate or call it chance Youre out of luck! Its circumstance! You best forget your wishing, its too late. Its too late Oh the clock struck twelve Its too late Youre over your heads Its too late Its just too late. Its too late Youre off to Italy Its too late Forget your family Its too late Its too late. Why give a thought to going home, Within a month youll be in Rome. Im afraid theres not a thing that you can do. Why think that theyve remembered you? Youre a memory, a worn out shoe. By now youve been replaced by someone new. Its too late Oh the clock struck twelve Its too late Youre over your heads Its too late Its just too late. Its too late Youre off to Italy Its too late Forget your family Its too late Its too late. Its too late Oh the clock struck twelve Its too late Youre over your heads Its too late Its just too late. Its too late Youre off to Italy Its too late Forget your family Its too late Its just too late. Its too late! I tell ya, its just too late! One more time! Ah yes it is, Its just too late I tell ya Its just too late. Ollie and Jehu have left after the wedding to look for Ollies brothers. They camp out overnight and wake up early the next day. Wed better get going if were to find them. Theyve already been gone a month. OLLIE They could be anywhere in the world by now. In the distance, Rupert flies around and looks down at Ollie and Jehu. He flies down and lands on the branch near where they are. RUPERT Hi there! Ollie and Jehu look puzzled at one another. OLLIE Who said that? RUPERT I did Rupert squawks. OLLIE Oh you. I didnt know ravens could talk. RUPERT We do when we want to. Most people think we have far too much to say. I guess they like us better when we keep our opinions to ourselves. JEHU Where are you from? RUPERT Im from Caesarea. Where are you all from? JEHU Were from Bethany. OLLIE Were on our way to Caesarea to look for my brothers. RUPERT Your brothers? Are they all white like you? OLLIE No, my brothers are just regular donkeys. Im the only white one in the bunch. RUPERT (twisting his head to the side.) What would it be worth to you to find your brothers? JEHU Why? Do you know something? RUPERT There is not much that can remain unseen from my vantage point flying about as much as I do. The higher I go, the more I see. Unfortunately, you may all be too late. OLLIE What do you mean too late? Youve seen them? What has happened to them? Can you take us to them? RUPERT Now hold on, fella. We first have to discuss my reward. Do you expect me to tell you where your brothers are without some kind of reward? OLLIE Reward? Thats robbery! JEHU What is your reward? If it is nearly too late, then perhaps RUPERT Have you any sesame seeds? JEHU Just a little. RUPERT Bring it here. OLLIE Hold on! How do we know youre really gonna help us? RUPERT I guess youll just have to trust me. Jehu reaches into his pouch and produces a small leather bag. He pours out the contents in his hand. JEHU How many do you want? RUPERT The whooooole bag. OLLIE The whole bag? Youre certainly being greedy. RUPERT Nonetheless, thats my price. How badly do you want to see your brothers? Jehu hands him the bag. Rupert puts it over his head like a mail satchel and pokes his beak in for a quick taste. OLLIE The information! You got what you wanted, now tell us where they are! RUPERT They were bought by Consul Gallius and theyre headed to his wine press in Italy. JEHU AND OLLIE Italy?! RUPERT Theyre at a stall near the port not too far from King Agrippas palace. Theyre gonna be shipped out today or tomorrow. Rupert flies a few feet off the tree. Both Ollie and Jehu look up. JEHU Cant you take us to them? RUPERT Ohhh you land creatures are much too slow! Ill tell them youre comin. Thatll make them very happy. Thanks for the sesame seeds. Mmm mmm. JEHU It sounds like we best hurry, its a long way to Caesarea. Jehu and Ollie begin their long trek to Caesarea. They are covered with sweat. And the sun sets behind them. RUPERT Ohh! Someone help me! They notice Rupert caught in the branches of a tree. His stomach is swollen to three times the normal size. JEHU Ill get you, hold on. RUPERT (moaning) Not so hard! Take it easy! I think Im gonna be sick! JEHU Just hold on, everything will be okay. Boy, little fella, you sure put on some weight. OLLIE Did you already eat all those sesame seeds? RUPERT Ya OLLIE No wonder youre sick! Go ahead, hop on my back, well give you a ride to Caesarea. Rupert stands on a stump and tries to jump over Ollies back. He gets within an inch, but he just cant stay up in the air. He goes sailing right to the ground. He lands with a thud. A small cloud of dust stirs up in the air. Jehu walks over and helps him up. JEHU Come on, little fella, let me give you a hand. Next time maybe you should eat a little less. Jehu picks him up and puts him on Ollie back. They march off down the path. CUT TO: EXT. SHIP DOCK- DAY The ships ramp is lowered down. Men begin to load boxes, crates, barrels, and livestock onto the boat. Consul Gallius pulls Jeremy, Isa, and Esau. They are being very reluctant and refuse to go up on the gang plank. He takes Jeremy separately and begins to push him up the ramp. Jeremy makes a loud Hee haw and kicks him, sending him into the water. The crew is hysterical. Gallius takes the rope they throw him and climbs back on shore. The three brothers just stare at him. CONSUL GALLIUS Well, if you dont want to be my friends, then dont be my friends! Ill just have to take you to my vineyard in chains. Well see how agreeable youll all be then. He addresses his attention to a man on the boat. CONSUL GALLIUS Fetch me leg irons for these stubborn donkeys. Lets see how theyll like traveling in chains, hahahah! I tried to be nice, but that didnt work, so youll just have to suffer with chains around your hooves. I fed you with the carrots, and leeks every day, but now all you have to eat is water and hay! Chains chains chains! Things were better before! Chains chains chains! Why do you make me so sore? Chains chains chains! I try to be nice. Chains chains chains! Now you better think twice! Isa, Esau, and Jeremy are chained and put in a loaded cargo room, and later that night, Ollie, Jehu, and Rupert arrive alongside the ship. Rupert flies over and spots Isa, Jeremy, and Esau in the room. He returns immediately. RUPERT I saw them! Theyre sleeping and they have chains on their legs. OLLIE Chains? This Gallius must be a very harsh master. JEHU (whispering) We gotta try to get them back before the boat sails in the morning. OLLIE Do you have a plan? JEHU No, but maybe if we all put our heads together, we can think of one. INT. HOLD- NIGHT Ollie, Jehu and Rupert sneak up the ramp. They go down to the hull where they find no guards. Rupert picks the lock with his beak and they sneak in. They wake the other donkeys and have to keep them quiet. Rupert picks all the locks with his beak. They sneak up the hallway to the deck. A burly looking sailor with a peg leg comes out smoking tobacco. JEHU (whispering) Its no use, well never get by him. Lets all hide in there. Camera pans to a lifeboat away from the sailors view, covered with a tarp. RUPERT Ill keep watch. Rupert flies to a perch and watches them all sneak into the life boat. Jehu, Ollie, and the donkeys hide out in the life boat, and then they all fall asleep. Rupert sees from overhead that they are about to cast off. He flies down to the lifeboat. He taps Jehu on the nose. Jehu wakes up and is shocked to find that the boat is leaving the dock. JEHU Why didnt you get me up earlier? RUPERT I waited allll night for the coast to clear and it never did. It looks like we might have to row our way back in. CAMERA PULLS BACK TO REVEAL: The ship is leaving the shore and the sails are being raised. TITLE: Next day EXT. SHIP DECK- DAY CONSUL GALLIUS Captain Maximillian! What rogue has stolen my donkeys?! CAPTAIN MAXIMILLIAN I know not what you speak. Stolen donkeys? Are they not still in the baggage hold? Gallius produces the leg irons all opened up. He throws them on the deck at the captains feet. GALLIUS When I catch up with these animals, theyll be sorry. The weather turns very choppy, and the waves begin to crash up on the deck. He is interrupted before he can finish by Paul, who walks on the deck. PAUL Captain, it would be best that you put it into the harbor; otherwise, I fear youll lose your boat. CAPTAIN MAXIMILLIAN And how many sea voyages have you been on? PAUL This is my first one. But I had a vision. MAXIMILLIAN You come to warn me of your visions? What are you, a soothsayer? GALLIUS He is a Hebrew prophetPaul, formerly Saul of Tarsus. Perhaps you should listen to him. MAXIMILLIAN Nonsense! Now both of you, please get below. (points to a sailor) Lower the jib. Bring the main sail down to half mast. CUT TO: INT. LIFEBOAT-DAY Inside the life boat, the donkeys are looking very sea sick. They are rocking back and forth with the waves and from time to time, a wave comes high enough and sloshes water on their heads. Lightning starts to crash. A worried look comes on all their faces. INT. DOLPHIN SCHOOL-DAY At the bottom of the sea, a group of young dolphins is gathered around. They are all sitting on big sea shell desks. A school teacher dolphin wearing spectacles is teaching her lesson and pointing out things on the board behind her. On top of the board is a sign that reads SCHOOL OF DOLPHINS. TEACHER Now I hope everyone here has done their homework, because this week well all be going on a field trip and putting into practice what you have learned. Donia, Apollo, stop that. How will you learn if you cant even listen? Apollo, I hope you were listening to me. There is really a message for you. APOLLO I was listening. When do we all go on our field trip? TEACHER Tomorrow at first light. Ive been told theres a terrible storm coming and perhaps some sailors will need our help. DONIA You mean we really might get to save someone? TEACHER Yes, tomorrow on our field trip, I shall tell you about dolphin exploits and why we are the most loved creature in the sea. APOLLO Wow! TEACHER But thats all for today. Everyone go home to your parents and get a good nights sleep. Tomorrow will begin the first day of your adult lives. CUT TO: EXT. SHIP- NEXT DAY The rope holding the lifeboat stretches and breaks. The boat is left dangling, and Rupert flies out, surveying the damage. Jehu pokes his head out and sees the other end break, and the boat goes splashing into the water. Jehu is thrown into the water and is drifting further and further away from the boat. Rupert flies over to where the one line is broken off, and in a feat of supernatural strength, picks up the rope, and takes it to Jehu. He is almost swallowed by the waves several times. He manages to get it to Jehu, who starts to pull himself in. The other donkeys take the rope between their teeth and pull it to get Jehu into the boat. By this time, the ship has sailed quite a ways away. As Jehu climbs into the boat, they find themselves in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea. OLLIE Rupert sure saved you, Jehu. JEHU Hes not such a bad little guy after all, is he? Jehu takes the soaking wet Rupert into the palms of his hands and begins to brush some of the water off him. RUPERT Its all right. These feathers are like sort of a rain jacket. Wed better get this boat bailed out or were all going to end up drenched. ISA Im really hungry JEREMY Im starving JEHU Were all hungry. But until we get to land, I dont think were going to have anything to ea but seaweed. ESAU (Picks up a glob from the boat between his teeth) OLLIE Sure. It probably doesnt even taste so bad. OLLIES SONG SEAWEED SONG You take a little seaweed Sprinkle salt Chew it very softly It hits the spot Just pretend its barley Or exotic fruit Its seaweed but its just as good. Its seaweed but its just as good. Its seaweed but its just as good. Its seaweed but its just as good. I like pomegranates In my break Or a little insect Slow on its feet But for all you growing donkeys Until we get to shore Youd better eat your seaweed now Youd better eat your seaweed now. They all react in panic when the big waves almost engulf their boat. JEHU (He throws Ollie the rope) Here, strap yourselves in. Everybody, wed better start bailing his boat or well be eating our next meal in Neptunes kitchen. RUPERT Neptunes kitchen? Wheres that? ISA He means down there on the bottom. RUPERT Oh no. Were much too long to die. Oh no. Im far too wet to fly. Oh no These waves are much too high. Oh no I wish that I was dry. CUT TO: INT. OCEAN FLOOR-DAY Jehu and Ollie know nothing about the young dolphins that gather around their teacher for their field trip. TEACHER Now its very important that no one wanders off. If we stay together, we can watch out for one another. APOLLO I thought you were going to tell us about he dolphin exploits. DONIA You promised. ALL DOLPHINS Tell us! Tell us! TEACHER Very well. TEACHER DOLPHIN SONG Hey, hey, were the dolphins Were as fast as the wind Hey hey were the dolphins Well give any sharky the slip. It happened to my grandma When she was just your age She spotted a group of sailors Sinking neath the waves. She pushed them to the surface And took them one by one Right up to where the island Lay sitting in the sun. Hey, hey, were the dolphins Were as fast as the wind Hey hey were the dolphins Well give any sharky the slip. Once my older brother Was following a hunch When he saw a human struggling From a shark who wanted lunch. He quickly intercepted And saved the poor mans life And guided him to safety To his very grateful wife. Hey, hey, were the dolphins Were as fast as the wind Hey hey were the dolphins Well give any sharky the slip. Years ago my dad was By an island off of Greece A fisherman was sinking With his net wrapped round his feet. He went quickly to the rescue He took him to his boat. They gave him half their catch, He couldnt hardly float Hey, hey, were the dolphins Were as fast as the wind Hey hey were the dolphins Hey, hey, were the dolphins Hey hey were the dolphins Hey, hey, were the dolphins Hey, hey, were the dolphins Hey, hey, were the dolphins They come upon the wreckage of a ship. As the other dolphins continue in a school, Apollo stops to inspect the ship. As he peers through a hatch window, he comes face to face with a grinning shark. He withdraws in shock and takes off in the other direction with the shark following him. He can see his schoolmates disappearing in the background. The shark makes a couple of attempts to catch him. Apollo is much too fast for him. Apollo goes up to the surface for air and pops his head above the water looking for his schoolmates. The waves are very big, and he barely sees the little boat carrying Jehu, Ollie, and the three donkeys. The raven spots Apollo. RUPERT Look! Its a dolphin! JEHU (Stands up) Hey! Over here! Help us! OLLIE Hey, can you help us? Were stuck out here. APOLLO Wow, theres so many of you. Usually we only help humans. You talk like a human, but you sure dont look like one. JEHU Hes not, but I am. Ollies a donkey- a talking donkey. APOLLO Well I can see that you are a human boy, but how can I possibly save all of you? Im just a boy myself. JEHU Well, maybe we can all paddle. RUPERT I can navigate. My feathers are almost completely dry. I can fly ahead and see if I can spot an island. APOLLO Im awful small to be pulling such a big boat. OLLIE It doesnt matter if youre big or small. You just gotta have faith, and then you can do it! SONG BE STRONG You can do all things If you keep trying It doesnt matter if youre small Though the waves are big And the boat is heavy And it dont look good at all. Be strong Be strong Or well never get home. Be strong Be strong We cant do it alone. Theres no food Theres no water Youre our only hope Dont leave us drifting Come on and pull the rope. Be strong Be strong Or well never get home. Be strong Be strong We cant do it alone. You can do all things Were all behind you Youve got everything it takes. Youre smart and swift Brave and fearless Pull us through those waves. Be strong Be strong Or well never get home. Be strong Be strong We cant do it alone. Be strong Be strong Or well never get home. Be strong Be strong We cant do it alone. Got to be strong Be strong Or well never get home. Be strong Be strong Or well never get home. Be strong! CUT TO: EXT. OCEAN BOTTOM-DAY The school of dolphins stops. The teacher looks around and is puzzled because she knows someone is missing. TEACHER My goodness, Apollo is missing. Well, class, its looks like well have to begin our first rescue operation on one of our own. Does anyone remember when you last saw Apollo? DAHLIA I saw him by that old sunken ship we passed. I havent seen him since. TEACHER Follow me, everybody. They race off in a big line swimming up and down over and under the water. EXT. ABANDONED SHIP-DAY The abandoned ship sits peacefully on the ocean bottom. Multi-colored fish are swimming in and out. The shark is lurking about also. The ship begins to shake back and forth sending all the sea creatures scurrying. A huge tentacle lifts up from the sandy bottom. It whips back and forth. Slowly, from the haze, a huge octopus appears. He is as large as the ship. As he jets, he leaves behind a black liquid. And slowly surfaces toward the ship. CUT TO: Jehu has a small knife out and is whittling on a small piece of driftwood. Jehu has tied his hair back in a little ponytail and cut his shirt off at the sleeves, All of a sudden, the boat is rocked. Everyone is jolted. Jehu springs into action. As Jeremy is bobbing up and down, Jehu manages to grasp the piece of rope still dangling around his neck. JEHU Ollie, help! Donkey overboard! Ollie reaches down and helps Jehu pull Jeremy in. The huge octopus surfaces almost right in front of Apollo. Apollo is straining with the rope and suddenly finds himself wrapped in a tentacle. The octopus knocks the bottom of the boat, and the donkeys and Jehu are sent into the sea. Jehu takes his knife between his teeth and swims over to where the octopus has Apollo in a death grip. He swims under the water and jabs at the tentacle. The octopus lets go and Apollo swims off with Jehu hanging onto his fin. The donkeys are managing to keep their heads above water and paddle, and the boat drifts away from them. JEHU Ollie, Ollie, is everyone okay? OLLIE Esau? Jeremy? Isa? JEREMY Hee-haw ISA Hee-haw OLLIE I dont see Esau! Oh no, the octopus has him! Right as he says this, a giant tentacle comes out of the water with Esau in it. JEHU Apollo! Do you think you can get me close, little buddy? APOLLO He wont catch me again! JEHU Ollie, try to swim over to the boat. Im going to try and get Esau free. They dive down to where the octopus has dragged Esau. Esau is struggling, kicking with his legs, but it is to no avail. Apollo swims Jehu right to the octopuss head. Jehu stabs him with his knife. A black liquid oozes out. Jehu motions for another run. The octopus releases Esau, who quickly swims up towards the surface. All of a sudden they are surrounded by a school of dolphins all coming to the aid of Apollo and Jehu. The dolphins seize the moment and begin to ram their heads into the octopus. The octopuss eyes begin to cross as he gets more and more weary. He is still trying to reach out with his tentacles, but begins to move very sluggishly. He propels himself as far away as possible with the dolphins still ramming at him. All the dolphins go to the surface behind Apollo, who is still dragging Jehu. EXT. OCEAN SURFACE-DAY The dolphins see the boat drifting away and drag it back to Ollie and his brothers. Rupert swoops down for a closer look. The teacher gets under Esau and pulls him right alongside the boat. ESAU Im too weak to even get off. DOLPHIN TEACHER No problem. She swims away with him on her back and swims back real fast, jumps into the air, and he lands right in the boat. Rupert comes down and flies right up next to him. RUPERT Wow. Esau, are you all right? ESAU Oh, my head! All the donkeys are in the boat with Jehu sitting at the stern. They are being pulled by a group of dolphins who are accompanying the boat and singing, HEY HEY WERE THE DOLPHINS. Rupert flies down into the boat. RUPERT Land ahoy! A beautiful island right ahead! JEHU Yippee! DONKEYS Yahoo! OLLIE Hey, Apollo, didnt I tell you you could do all things? APOLLO You sure did. JEHU Hey, everybody, look! OLLIE A welcoming committee! The oat pulls right up to the shore. The dolphins all do jumps into the air and Jehu waves goodbye. Rupert flies over them close to the waves and sees them out of the inlet. I singing islanders come up to Jehu and the donkeys and put their arms around all of them. It is a very touching situation. SONG Welcome to our island Where everybody loves Everyones so friendly We never push or shove. Welcome to our island Welcome to our island Welcome to our island Welcome to our island Welcome to our island I hope you like the trip Enjoy your stay here Everyones so hip. Welcome to our island Welcome to our island Welcome to our island Welcome to our island Sit back and rest your feet. Youll never hear us quarreling And theres always lots to eat. Welcome to our island Welcome to our island Welcome to our island ISLAND LEADER We welcome our friends that God has sent us from the sea. Come sit down! We have a giant feast! JEHU Where are we? ISLAND LEADER You are on the island of brotherly love, Agape Island. Here, everyone loves one another and treats even their animals kindly. OLLIE Thats great, but how do we get back to Bethany? ISLAND LEADER Well, every few months trading ships come for our fine sponges and hand strung pearl necklaces. So the next time they come, well make sure you get back home safely. But now, it is time for the party! Yeah man, love one another! Their time on the island passes by swiftly, and after three months, Ollie and his brothers are going up to the hill every day to see if they can spot the ship. OLLIE Everybody, look! I think thats the ship! Well be going home! ESAU Do you really want to go? This place is sort of like what I expected heaven to be like. ISA I could stay here forever. JEREMY Yeah, me too OLLIE We have to think of Jehu. He needs his mom and dad. We cant expect him to break their hearts forever. Think of how they must feel. I am sure by now they probably think hes dead. Besides, itll be different now. We know how to get along and love each other, right? ESAU Yeah, you know, as long as we do love each other, I suppose it doesnt matter where we live. Its like we carry a little bit of heaven in our hearts. CUT TO: EXT. INLET-DAY The villagers all gather at the beach to wish their friends goodbye. The donkeys are in a small boat being rowed out to sea with Jehu. OLLIE Goodbye! Thanks for the hospitality! JEHU Yeah, well come back and visit you sometime. Maybe Ill be captain of my own ship someday. RUPERT Yeah, and Ill be the first mate! JEHU Hey look! Its our dolphin friends! Theyve come to see us off! In the distance, there are about twelve dolphins sailing over the waves. As their lifeboat pulls out towards the big ship, they come up right alongside. Jehu reaches down and pats the top of Apollos head. JEHU Hi, Apollo. Thanks for bringing us to this island. We had the greatest time! FINAL SONG: Well never forget you when were gone Our hearts will beat a beat for you One more journey Then were home Well never forget you when youre gone Its been an adventure for us all We better survive, but here we are One more journey Then were home Well never forget you when were gone.
