During the latter part of the 1800s and the first half of the 1900s up until about 1960, the Poconos was one of the top tourist destinations in the USA. For its unending mirage of color, trees, lakes, woods, streams and unique habitat, people sought out the Poconos as a refuge from everyday city life. Entering the Poconos is a bit like going back in time. The buildings blend in, and the call of nature is intense. Miles upon miles of uninterrupted forests and clear unpolluted lakes and streams, this is a place you will not want to leave. Take a pleasant walk through the woods; watch the squirrels, catch a glimpse of a deer or even a fox.
